Matthew Roe is completing a Masters degree at Regent’s Park College, University of Oxford, researching the role of Baptists in the campaign against the slave trade. During his undergraduate studies at Oxford, he served as a Vice President of the Oxford Inter-Collegiate Christian Union and led the formation of the History Faculty Group for Christian historians. He now holds a scholarship aimed at equipping postgraduate students to support Christian undergraduate students in their faith and witness in their studies.
Dr Ian Shaw is Professor Emeritus in the School for Business and Society at the University of York. Author of more than a hundred academic papers and thirty books, he is presently writing a book on Christians, Slavery and Empire. He is a member of York Evangelical Church and involved in a church plant initiative.
